How to keep fit on the road/Apple decided I’m an extremist
When I wanted to introduce you to two beautiful iPhone apps that are helping me stay physically fit, and challenge my readers a bit, I got a disturbing glance into The Man’s mind …
So I’ve been using GymFu‘s beautiful iPhone apps PushupFu and CrunchFu lately. These funny thingies directly track your progress in doing pushups/crunches by physically measuring how you do them using the iPhone’s motion detectors (though it’s quite awkward for the pushups, you have to fix the phone to your arm)! They give you a training plan that you can follow up to their respective goal of 200 crunches/100 pushups in a row, they let you compete in contests against other users and they even publish your progress on twitter if you so like! So here’s one more reason to follow me on twitter! Just two days ago, I beat the final challenge in CrunchFu, doing 223 crunches in a row (I know, I’m such a stud)! The only reason this hasn’t been tweeted is that I can’t get online with my iPhone here in Akademgorod, the center of Russian intelligentsia in the middle of Siberia. More on that in another post.
But on to the disturbing exposure: I would have loved to give you direct AppStore links to these wonders of technology, and maybe even get a commission or two. So I registered with linkshare and applied for Apple’s affiliate program. Here’s the central part of the email I received:
We regret to inform you that iTunes has chosen not to accept your application
for the iTunes Affiliate Program at this time. This may be because:– The content is unrelated to iTunes
– Your site is temporarily down or under construction ¿ please make sure to
apply again after 2 weeks.
– A wrong or misspelled URL given in the application. Please correct the
problem and apply again.
– Your site promotes tobacco, alcoholic beverages or excessive drinking/
drug use
– Your site contains extreme religious content
– Your site is international (with a majority of visitors based OUTSIDE the US.
or written in a foreign language)If any of the above problematic criteria can be resolved, we look forward to
your reapplication.
Well, well … it seems almost all of these criteria apply. Talk about corporate media shaping conspiracy theories! So I can now proudly confirm that you are reading an extreme religious international drug users’ blog certified by Apple! Enjoy!
P.S.: If you want to challenge me in PushupFu or CrunchFu, please reply to this post using the same user name as in these programs before challenging. I’d love to beat you ![]()
P.P.S.: Maybe I shouldn’t have pointed them to the site the day I presented Rasputin’s dick.
